Wivenhoe Bike Kitchen continues to offer free servicing and repairs for key workers from all sectors, with Cycling UK’s support. We have helped over 40 people to date, giving most bikes a full service. To book your bike in text 07926 463 568 with your name and job title. We will resume our usual drop in, do-it-together sessions as soon as it’s safe to do so – likely with visitors and volunteers all needing to wear face coverings and disposable gloves.
We’re really excited to announce that the Colchester Orbital route has now launched just in time for summer! The Orbital is 14-15 mile walking and cycling route that circumnavigates Colchester, linking up green spaces across the borough. Originally launched as a walking only route in 2018 by Walk Colchester, we’ve been working with them to create a sister route for cycling that shares some of the same paths, and deviates where cycling isn’t possible.

The roads are still pretty quiet, and nowhere near as busy as they were pre-lockdown. With the good weather at the moment it’s still a great time to get out on your bike and explore some quiet country lanes or your local neighbourhood. Check out our maps section or why not explore further afield with a tool like Komoot?
Safer Essex Roads Partnership are still offering FREE bikeability for anyone in Essex who wants it, and have even extended the free offer until 1st September due to high demand. Bikeability is a great way to get back into riding or to brush up on your road confidence skills.
