Summer may be well and truly over, but Autumn is still a beautiful time to be out and about on your bike.

The best news is Wivenhoe Bike Kitchen are open again every Monday 19:00-21:00 and Sunday 14:00-16:00:

WBK offers free safety checks at all sessions until November as part of Cycling UK’s Big Bike Revival. It’s first come first served, so arrive by the start of a session for the best chance of a slot, with collection by the end of the session. We will carry out minor repairs/adjustments (eg brakes/gears, punctures) if our capacity allows.

They’ll have their usual, though smaller scale, drop in, ‘do-it-together’ repairs too, where a volunteer helps you fix your bike – face coverings essential and hand sanitiser/gloves provided.
There is no space for arriving/dropping your bike off by car, please use the nearby car park – free for 30 mins

Have you tried the 60 day challenge?

Push yourself to be more active by joining the Stop.Swap.GO! 60 Day Challenge.  Open to all residents in Essex over 18, the challenge helps you build lasting walking and cycling habits through small daily tasks and weekly prize incentives.

People of all ages across the county have already taken part and have been sharing their progress with us on a private app. We’ve shared their journeys on our social media channels to motivate others to join and build the momentum across Essex for active and healthier travel options.

The Stop.Swap.GO! website also has lots of helpful links to our partners such as the Safer Roads Essex Partnership and Essex Highways and other active travel organisations. There is also information on places to go in Essex, which is perfect for planning cycle adventures as the autumn colours begin to change.

There’s still plenty of time to join the 60 Day Challenge and be in for the chance to win prizes, so register now on the website and follow the campaign on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for updates.

Cycling UK are launching the next phase of the Big Bike Revival

Cycling UK is launching its next phase of the Big Bike Revival and we are looking for partners to deliver Dr Bike events in local communities for everyone and in workplaces for employees.

The Dr Bike events build on the Big Bike Revival for Key Workers programme which has supported people to cycle as a safe and effective way to travel and maintain social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic.

As more people are considering cycling for both work and leisure, the demand is increasing and our programme of Dr Bike sessions aims to support the whole community to cycle.
